Photo Sharing (resize for email)

For photo sharing you need to be able to  resize a photo so that you can email your snaps to family and friends. A standard photo taken at top quality will be 1mb to 3mb in size, depending on the resolution of your camera.

You have been emailed some photos at full resolution and when you try to view them you can only see bits of the photo. The photos below show what this looks like.

Here you see the scroll bars at the edge of the page. We can only see a small part of the overall photo and must scroll to see the rest. Very unsatisfactory, and also it takes much longer to send. The photo is 1600kb (1.6mb) in size.

Here is what the photo should look like and it is under 100kb in size. You can email 16 of these size photos in the same length of time it would take to email the 1.6mb photo above!

You can see the full image and can send many images at a time. The recipient will be very happy with you!

Photo sharing is fun! So now it is time to learn how to do this. Click on the video below.

When you open a photo, apart from just looking at it, you may want to zoom in on a section of the photo. Follow this paint shop pro zoom tool tutorial.

The photo may need to be rotated so that it can be viewed properly. We need to rotate photos to switch between portrait and landscape orientations. Click here to see a paint shop pro 5 tutorial on how to rotate digital photos

You may want to turn it form a colour to a black and white photo. Here are some paint shop pro tips on how to covert a photo to greyscale (black and white)

You may wish to edit out some part of the photo which you didn't intend to include. This is called cropping a picture and is an extremely handy skill to have. Follow these tutorials for paint shop pro to master the skill of cropping photos

You need to know how to resize your photos for email and the web. Here is the tutorial on resizing for photo sharing
