Your Photo Editors Rotate Function

Your photo editors rotate tool will adjust photos to the correct orientation for you. You need to know how to rotate digital photos as all photos are not taken with the same camera orientation.  If you tilt your camera on its side it will take photos in portrait orientation. The normal orientation is called landscape.

So here we have a photo taken with the camera tilted on its side in portrait orientation. When the photo is imported or downloaded to the computer it is naturally in landscape orientation. You must re-orientate it to portrait as below.

To see a tutorial on how to change the orientation from landscape to portrait or vice versa, click on the video below. This shows how to rotate your digital pictures.

When you open a photo, apart from just looking at it, you may want to zoom in on a section of the photo. Here you can get familiar with the Microsoft photo editors zoom function

The photo may need to be rotated so that it can be viewed properly. We need to rotate photos to switch between portrait and landscape orientations. Learn about the image editors rotate function

You may want to turn it form a colour to a black and white photo. Explore the free image editors greyscale (black and white) converting functions.

You may wish to edit out some part of the photo which you didn't intend to include. This is called cropping a picture and is an extremely handy skill to have. Here the image editor free selection tool allows you to cut out parts of a photo.

You need to know how to resize your photos for email and the web. Here is a tutorial on free photo sharing
