My
name is Dara Mannion and I am a tutor at my local Education Centre for teachers.
I deliver courses in image editing and give digital photography tips and digital
camera technology tutorials to beginners and those more familiar with digital cameras. I created
this site as a support for those learning about digital camera technology and photography.
So whether you are a complete novice or a more advanced user,
this site on digital camera technology is for you.
You will learn about digital camera image resolution, get free paint shop pro
tutorials, get good camera advice, digital camera tips and much, much more.
Just use the navigation bar on the left side of the page to select your topic
of interest. I have presented the topics clearly without too many technical
terms. You want to take photos and have fun with them, not become a photography
technician!
Here's what you will find under the digital camera technology various topic
headings
Camera Basics will tell you
about setting the camera flash, recording and viewing your
photos and using your zoom function.
Photo Tips will tell you the
basics for getting a good photo. While most cameras are "point and shoot" it is
up to you to set the photo up correctly. Here you will learn how to
centralise the subject and the rule of thirds. There is also a
tutorial on common mistakes to avoid.
Photo Albums will bring you
through setting up folders for your digital photos, how to
download/import photos so you can transfer them from the camera to the
computer, you will see your viewing options and learn how to make
desktop shortcuts for the programs you regularly use.
Images on the Net will bring
you through the process of finding images or photos on the internet
for use in projects. It will also show you some of the mistakes to avoid
when searching for images.
Microsoft Word is a very
comprehensive look at the many ways that images can be used to enhance your
desktop publishing. You will see how to set up your toolbars for
ease of use, insert images into a Word document and
word-wrap the photos so that they behave as you want them to. Converting
photos to greyscale and adding a border will be
explained, leading to the creation of stylish posters. You will
see how to make a photo calendar, photo invitations, photo Christmas cards
and more.
Free Photo Editing Software MS

you through the basics of image editing. Most photo editing software works in a
similar fashion so a tutorial on Paint Shop Pro will be useful if you are using
Irfanview, Photo Shop or even Microsoft Photo Editor. You will learn how to
