Everybody needs desktop shortcuts. How many you have will depend on how many
different programs you use on a regular basis. Some programs make a shortcut for
you when you install the program. For others you must create it yourself.
This is a fairly simple operation and although it only needs to be done once
for each program you regularly use, you will need to use it each time you
install a program you intend to use regularly.

First decide what program you wish to put on the desktop. Look at the
screenshot below
As you can see, there is no shortcut for my most used program, Microsoft
Word. So I want to create one. First locate the program in All Programs
Point to the program and right click on it.
Look at the menu options and go to Send To. There is another option on
that list which could cause confusion called Create Shortcut. Although,
this sounds like what we want do not click this option.
Instead, use the Send To option and then Desktop (Create Shortcut)
When the menus clear you will have created a shortcut for your
selected program
There are a number of programs that you will regularly use to view and edit
your photos. You will need to create desktop shortcuts to these programs. This
avoids having to go Start / All Programs and then select the program each
